The throttle position sensor (TPS) is part of the engine control system, a device used to determine the degree and speed of the throttle opening.

In fact, the throttle position sensor is a potentiometer that changes the output voltage according to the throttle position. Accordingly, another name of the DPS is a potentiometer of the throttle.

The throttle position sensor is installed on the same axis as the throttle itself. It has three conclusions: the first is voltage, the second is connected to the mass, and the third ECU withdraws the signal.

The operating principle of the throttle position is as follows: when the shale is closed, the voltage on the sensor is minimal. When the throttle opening is open, the tension begins to grow. The maximum voltage of the DPB shall be achieved with the throttle completely open. According to this information obtained by the engine control unit, the fuel delivery mode shall be selected.

Sometimes, instead of a potentiometer, a magnesium sensor is used in the throttle position. It consists of a sensitive element with a magnetosis material and the magnet associated with the throttle of the throttle. In this case, we are talking about the contactless DMAP, because there is no mechanical contact between the magnetositive element and the magnet.

The principle of the contactless sensor position of the throttle position is as follows: when the throttle is rotated, the magnetic field and the resistance of the sensitive element are changed-this information is read by the electronic control unit.

The throttle position sensor is important for fuel delivery, so the sensor status should be carefully monitored. For the first indications of a malfunction, it shall be checked and, if necessary, replaced.

The position of the throttle position-contact or contactless?

In factory performance, many vehicles are picked up by regular contact PDAs, but over time this part is worn out or out of order, and the car owners prefer to change the sensor position of the throttle position to the contactless.

The main advantage of the contact (film resistor) sensor position of the throttle control is its low price. However, in the contact DSDA, the timers are erased over time, which can lead to movement and other negative consequences.

It is more expensive, but the wear of the details is much slower, which means that it will be longer than the contact.
