In the seventh generation of Passats, engine speeds are lowered to workers gradually, as the engine warm-up starts. In cold weather, the turnover can drop immediately to the workers 800 per minute.

This is related to environmental concern: the owner of the car will not wait for the engine to warm up and go straight away. Many automakers do not recommend warming up the engine. This is primarily due to environmental concerns: a large amount of pollutants is additionally released when the atmosphere is warming up.
