The Octavia cars are equipped with a GRM retransmission, which means that the belt of the gas distribution mechanism needs to be replaced regularly. In the Skoda Octavia service record, the replacement of the GRM is specified after running 60,000 km. In practice, however, the replacement of GRM straps to Skoda Octavia is very often done at a later date designated by the manufacturer. Many owners of 60,000 km only make a visual inspection of the site and, if in good condition, change the belt of the GRM to the Octavia later-at 90,000 km.
