The transport of children in the car requires special security measures. According to the SDA, it is prohibited in Russia to transport children under 12 years of age without the use of special "child restraint devices, corresponding to the weight and height of the child, or other means to secure the child with the help of the safety-belts of the vehicle structure".  What is ISOFIX and how it is

What is ISOFIX and how it is

The International Organization for Standardization ISO has even developed a special system for the attachment of child restraint systems (International Standards Organisation FIX). The main task of this system is to make the installation of a children's seat in the car as safe and secure as possible.

The modern anchorage is the metal hinges attached to the body of the car and to which a children's seat is mounted with special locks. The settings for the locks and ISOFIX positions are standard for all manufacturers, so that the motorists have the maximum choice when buying the car seat.

For the first time, the fixation for the children's chair was used in 1990, and now this option is available for most modern cars in basic picking.  To locate the ISOFIX brackets, you need to put a hand between the upper and lower part of the rear seat. Some machines in the rear seat have even the appropriate badges or patches denoting the presence of ISOFIX anchorages in this position.

Generally, the fixation is for the right and left seat in the rear seat, but there are models in which you can put three crèches on the right, left, and center.

It is not difficult to install a children's chair at the fixation: the feature of this system is that it eliminates the possibility of incorrect installation. If you feel under the seat of the ISOFIX bracket, you need to miss the seat cushion in the seat cushion, and then hit the straps with the straps. To remove the children's chair from the vehicle ISOFIX attachments have special buttons or keys (normally red), they must be pressed at the same time to lock the locks.

Is the Isolation Security?

When you use a children's chair with an Infix to fasten a child with a seat belt, don't wear a seat belt.

Many parents believe that fixing a child's chair with a fixation in the event of an accident would be more traumatic than using a normal seat belt in the back seat. However, recent crash tests have proven the opposite:

  • The ISOFIX anchorage is better than the neck load (in the case of rear impact, this is very relevant),
  • and the tougher the chair is, the sooner the restraint systems work,
  • The children's seat belts are designed to absorb the inertia of the child at the expense of their elastic deformation.

LATCH and ISOFIX differences and differences

An ISOFIX attachment to the US is a LATCH system. It is mandatory for all American automakers. The main difference between the Latino and the ISOFIX is that in the American system, it is fastening to the brackets and not by the locks. By the size and location, the LATCH and the Lofix brackets are identical, so that LATCH cars can be easily equipped with an ISOFIX position.
