The PASSAT B7 is equipped with six airbags: frontal for the driver and front passenger, front outboard, top side airbags for the driver and passengers of the first and second rows ("curtain").
The side airbags for second row may be installed as an option. Side impact sensors and lateral acceleration sensors are installed on the sides of the vehicle.
