There is no frame in the Outlander XL structure, so with slight skew when the machine is partly on the pavement, partly on the road, the body is playing a little. It is for this reason that in such cases the boot is not closed the first time. The problem is solved by reclosing the boot lid with a great effort. You can looser the rubber bands on the cover (if they are adjustable), then the cover is closed.
