Sometimes the parkronics at the Mercedes E-Class (W212) work too late, almost when the bumper is almost touching the obstacle. To prevent unpleasant situations, it is worth knowing that slush, snow and ice may affect the work of ultrasonic sensors of the parktroics, so they need to be carefully cleaned so as to avoid scratches. In addition, it should be taken into account that:
The system operates only at speeds of up to 18 km/h;
The maximum radius of the front sensors is about 100 cm in the centre and 60 cm in the corners and the rear sensors are 120 cm and 80 cm respectively.
The sensors "do not see" the objects above and below their range, such as loading platforms or low beardas. The vertical area of sensors is starting to decrease when the vehicle approaches the object by more than ½ the maximum radius.
Sensors may not lock the object, which was less than 20 cm in the centre when the vehicle was launched, or 15 cm in the corners.
When moving forward, only the front sensors are activated, the front and rear sensors are activated.
