Probably not a car in the windshield of which there would not have been cracks or any of it in time. In most cases, the damage to the windshield can be resolved either by itself or in the service, but there are cases where repair is no longer helpful. Which means the windshield must be changed. Is it possible to replace the windshield with your hands without seeking help from specialists? This is a matter for many car owners.
The process of replacing the windshield can be divided into several stages:
- removing old glass or its residues,
- Preparing the site for the new glass,
- Installation of the new glass directly.
To remove the remnants of the old glass, use a string or special tool that can be purchased from the building store. String or special knife must be neatly inserted between the glass and the paz to trim the old seal. Especially gently trim the torpedo area to avoid cutting down the plastic.
When the old glass is completely removed, you can proceed to the second step and prepare space for the new glass. To begin with, remove the remains of the old sealant: it is more convenient to cut it with the help of a construction knife (with a sliding blade). As practice shows, cutting off the remains of the sealant without damaging the molding is almost impossible, so if you replace the windshield, you will also have to change the molding.
The next stage of preparation is the degreasing of the place where the new windshield will be fixed. The degreasing structure may be a part of a gluing kit, or it can be purchased separately (often purchased by an anti-silicon degreaser).
Then we can proceed with the sadness. No soil should be applied to the residue of the old sealant which could not be cut. Rifle is applied only on solid surfaces-on the body or on the glass in the place where the sealant will be applied. The rustle is marked with a broad brush or cotton swab.
In the areas where the old sealant remains, the activator of the sealant should be applied.
During the installation of the new glass, the first stage is the application of a leak. Note that the sealant is reasonably dense, so it's best to put it with a pneumogun. Hermetics must be a solid stripe, no rupture.

After the leak has been done evenly, the glass should be pressed and pressed close all over the perimeter, running under the clearance. If there is a surplus on the outside, do not hurry them up: it will be easy to do when the sealant solidifies. It is best to install the glazing with an assistant, as well as using special tabs to hold the glass.

At the end of the procedure, the glass should be fixed by stickers, first on the glass, and then "pulling" onto the body.

After this procedure, it is recommended that the car be left for 6 to 10 hours so that the sealant is "seized". At this time, it is not necessary to open and close the doors of the car, otherwise the impact of the glass may shift.
Changing the windshield is best in warm and dry weather. In the cold, the sealant can just not freeze, but in the heat, polymerization will go very quickly, so the glass can "grab" before time. The optimum freezing temperature of the sealant is usually indicated in the instructions to it.
