If it is an Ambience illumination (small diode on the ceiling), it is switched off through the onboard computer. You can find instructions in the manuala or in the car settings, how to do it. Settings are controlled from the buttons on the magnet. If it is a case of a door or a backlight, it shall not be switched off.
