In the climate control system BMW 5 E60 has a REST button whose purpose is unclear to many owners. In fact, this is a very useful function: if after shutting down the engine REST, the car will be heated by using the residual heat of the engine. The hot liquid of the heater is taken from the engine cooling system.
The so-called "parking heater" (or "passive heating" as it is called), which is launched by the REST button on BMW 5 Series, runs for 15 minutes, then the function is switched off automatically. In addition, it should be borne in mind that this function is not activated if the air temperature is below +15 degrees.
