As a general rule, BMW's 3 E46 fan is not working and is not even turned on, there are only three possible:
-Fan motor failure. In that case, it's enough just to replace the fuse.
-Faulity of the electric motor of the fan. If the fan-ignition switch is closed and the fan is on, the voltage is attached to the fan-engine contacts, which means that the fan motor is to be replaced.
-Fan switch failure. In this case, you might need to replace the attachment card.
