If the fuel consumption in diesel Jaguar X-Type has increased significantly (by more than 10 per cent), the EGR valve and the particulate trap should be checked. If they're okay, there's probably a problem with the fuel injeckey. If one or more of the nozzles is defective, it will not spray the cylinders, which will increase the fuel consumption. At the same time, the engine is likely to operate unsustainably. The cleaning of the nozzles needs to be done at its own risk: the cleaning process may result in their destruction and complete failure.
