Four types of engines were installed on the Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, three petrol (3.7 l, 4.7 l, 5.7 l) and one diesel from Mercedes (3.0 l). Of the petrol motors, 4.7-litre aggregate is the most direct. It has a fairly frequent breakdown of the exhaust collector, which is shown by the smell of the exhaust gas in the passenger compartment and the loud noise of the engine. The engine is also characterized by high fuel consumption.

The diesel engine is very quiet and economical, but it has a number of problems. These include the oil from under the seal of the turbocharger input tube, the breakdown of the electric power train, and the injection of injectors into the injection system due to the use of fuel-efficient fuel.
