Many of the owners of the Solaris (including new ones) complain about the engine's noise at idle speed. The sound reminds me of diesel engine work. The reason may be more than one:

  1. There's no malfunction. This sound is generated by the work of the fuel injectors and the system for changing the phases of the gas distribution on the intake.
  2. A strong diesel noise may indicate a low tension in the GRM drive chain. On the new machines, this is indicative of problems with the pressure. In cars with high mileage this may be the result of a strain of the chain.
