The fourth generation, the fourth generation, was installed with four, five and six cylinders. Each of these motor types has its own characteristics:

  • Four-cylinder motor. It was originally built for Audi 80, used on other models VAG-VW Golf, Jetta and Passat. Structural peculiarities-the oil pump and the ignition engine are given in motion by means of an intermediate shaft. The transmission and distribution shaft is operated by a jagged belt.
  • 5-cylinder motor. It is a modification of the 4-cylinder engine. The main design differences are the presence of a specially organized imbalance of flywheel and damper at the front end of the wheel to absorb the swings. The shaft for each cylinder was also mounted on two counterweights.
  • 6-cylinder motor. Specially designed for Aoudi 100 C4. The difference is the V-shaped structure, the intake manifold with the variable geometry and the ignition system without the allocator.
