Quadra-Drive is installed on the Jep Grand Cherokee WK as an option. It is characterized by the presence of the main gears of the front and rear drawbridges with high friction (ELSD). They operate in a fully autonomous mode, which does not require intervention by the driver.
In normal conditions of motion, the differential ELSD functions the same as the usual differential, distributing the torque between the wheels in the 50:50 ratio. If one of the wheels starts to slip, the system redistributes the torque so that the majority of the wheel has a better grip on the road.
