The dashboard can be compared to the human senses. It is hard to imagine what will happen if we lose the ability to feel hungry or weary. Thus, the operation of the car will become difficult if it is not known how much petrol remains, what the speed of the movement is, etc.

Meet the cars in which the dashboard looks like a computer screen (for example, Citroen C4)

The devices on the panel provide an information link between the driver and various units and devices of the car. Thus, the purpose of the dashboard is to collect all the instruments in one place and give the driver all necessary information about the operation of the car, system serviceability, etc.

In general, the dashboard is built into the torpedo and opposite the driver. In rare cases, it may be in the middle of a torpedo, between the driver and the passenger. Examples of such a location are Nissan Primera, Toot Yaris et al. In the Mini Cooper vehicles, some of the instruments are installed opposite the driver and the speedometer is in the middle.  Other solutions are possible.

It is believed that in a modern car the panel should have about ten instruments

The panels are powered by electricity from the battery or the generator of the car. The instruments themselves have a mechanical device. But there are also vehicles in which the dashboard looks like a computer screen. An example of such an electronic interface is Citroen C4.

There is a classic set of instruments that manufacturers are most likely to equip their cars. It is believed that in a modern car the panel should have about ten instruments. The greater quantity will distract the driver from the direct management of the machine, and less will reduce the necessary informativeness.

The dashboard indicators are divided into two types: monitors and monitors.

The first type is the speedometer, the tachometer and the odometer. The assignment of a speedometer is known to everyone-it shows the speed of the movement.  The arrow of the tachometer points to the engine speed, and the distance travelled by the vehicle. The same type of apparatus is a fuel level indicator, engine coolant temperature indicator. In addition, additional instruments, such as battery-charge indicators, tyre pressure, oil temperature at the checkpoint, can be installed in different vehicles.

Any instrument panel shall consist of measuring lamps in any combination. The standard lamps may include indicators for turning indicators and passing and driving, "crashing", actuating the parking brake and reversing, etc.

In addition, the dashboard may display the display of the onboard computer. The appearance of the dashboard: beautiful or functional?

The appearance of the dashboard: beautiful or functional?

The appearance of the dashboard can be attributed to the exterior of the car.  However, its design is not only an aesthetic function. The instrumentation shall be positioned so that the driver can see them without interference.

Some models may change the highlight color of the dashboard and automatically switch to the sports mode

If the lamps and lamps have a default illumination, the illumination of the measuring instruments is usually controlled by the switch. The instruments in different cars and models can be highlighted in different colors. Some manufacturers allow the driver to choose the color himself. The color can also be changed automatically, for example, when you switch the car into a sports mode.

At first glance, it seems that the question of color is not so important to the car. However, this is not the way: the eyes of the driver, especially in the dark time of the day, should not be weary of the panel's glow too aggressive. Therefore, the "calm" tones are generally chosen: green, blue.

The material from which we make the skeleton panel is equally important. It must have low thermal conductivity.  In the twentieth century, it was used by polyvinyl film based on polyurethane foam, foaming PVC and acrylic wool. The carcass itself was made of plastic and was reinforced with metal parts. However, due to too high thermal conductivity, the materials refused. They were replaced by Italian polypropylene products, whose performance was much better in this respect.
