The speedometer's spike could have disconnected if the rack-mount cage was spinning or loosed. In any case, the test must begin with a speedometer cable. If the cable itself shows signs of wear (rubbing, damage, etc.), I must change the speedometer. Before the installation of the new cable, experienced motorists are advised to lubricate the lubricant which will protect the cable from the premature failure. Note that the new speedometer cable should have exactly the same length as the one you replaced.

In addition, mechanical speedometers often encounter damage to the mechanical part of the device itself. To diagnose the speedometer mechanism, you need to understand the dashboard, and then scroll the speedometer cable by carefully observing the meter reading. If the needle of the speedometer is still motionless or moves chaotic, then the speedometer mechanism is out of order and needs to be replaced.

With regard to electronic speedometers, the reason for their failure is to look primarily in electronics. If the electronic speedometer is out of order, the test should start with the speed sensor, as it is exactly the speedometer that gets the information. In addition, the integrity and integrity of the sensor's contacts should be checked-if there are traces of corrosion or oxidation, the contacts need to be cleaned.
