If there is an unpleasant smell when you turn on the air conditioning system in the passenger car, it is time to clean and disinfect the air conditioner. The fact is that, over time, the system is flooded with dust, mold and disease, which may not only cause unpleasant odour, but also cause allergies or viral diseases in the driver and passengers.
There are two ways to clean automotive air conditioners:
- with the removal of the evaporator,
- without removing the evaporator.
The first option is more difficult, but more efficient, the second one is simpler, but it will not be able to perform a full-fledged cleaning and disinfection with it.
If you are not ready to parse the air conditioning system and want to restrict the air conditioner without removing the evaporator, you need to purchase a special chemical speciation in the store to clean the air conditioner. It is sold in the form of an aerosol or foam, a flexible sapper is included in the spray, as well as a detailed instruction on how to use it.
When selecting the tool for cleaning the air conditioner, pay attention to the purposes for which it is used. Some means destroy only the smell, while others struggle with germs and mold.
Each tool may have its own usage, but the general principle is that the cleaning substance (foam or aerosol) must process the air ducts and the evaporator of the air conditioner to eliminate the dirt and bacteria.
The cleaning agent can be applied directly to the evaporator of the air conditioner (but it must be reached first, not always easy) or injected through a chest tube. However, it is easiest to spray the tool with air ducts.
To clean and disinfect the air conditioner, you need to do the following:
- Remove the salon filter, if any.
- Start the car, turn on the salon heater by about a third of the power.
- Put a penter into deflector, and spray cleaner.
- Turn the engine off.
- Wait for a certain amount of time until the chemical is in effect (usually 10 to 15 minutes, more accurate information is sought on the cartridge with a cleaning tool).
- Place the filter on the spot (better, of course, replacing it with a new one).
- If there is a recycling function in the car, then the lower air ducts will need to be further processed and recycled.
- At the end of the procedure the salon needs to be carefully aired.
If after cleaning the air conditioner with their hands the unpleasant smell in the salon stayed, then the problem may not be fixed. In this case, it is necessary to turn to the service where the air conditioning system will be cleaned and disinfected.
