Spoiler is a body element that serves to improve the aerodynamics and appearance of the car. On the same machine, it is installed on a single machine, and the other owners order and place it in addition. But there is a third category: for some cars, spoilers are created manually, the owners draw, design and install them with their own hands.
However, it is worth considering that making the spoiler's hand is a difficult task, as a misdesigned spoiler not only does not improve, or even worse, the dynamics of the car. In addition, errors in the assembly of spoilers can lead to the corrosion of the body as well as to the occurrence of emergency situations on the road.
How to make a spoiler for a car with your hands
The first and perhaps the most important stage is the design of the spoiler. It is not possible to draw this element of the body "in the eye", since otherwise it will not be useful. During the design phase, you can bring in an engineer or just an experienced motorist, who is familiar with this type of tuning.
When the dimensions and design of the spoiler are determined, we can proceed to the next stage-the creation of a metal frame. It is very convenient to use sheet galvanized iron (1.5 mm thick). To make a spoiler shell, you'll need special metal working equipment.
Once the skeleton is ready, you can start increasing the amount. The cheapest and most popular material is Styrofoam. It's a piece of paper that cuts out the details that will be put on a spoiler metal skeleton. In addition, many use the foam to increase the volume.
The foam is then covered by a layer of helcote and the layer of glass fibres on top of it. The glass fibre (it is still called glass-carbonate) is placed in multiple layers, each successive layer must be denser than the previous one. There should be no air bubble between layers. Each new layer is superimposed after the process of polymerization of the previous starts. The final layer of glass fibre is coated with polyester resins.
If you are going to embed any lighting devices in the spoiler, it needs to be done at the glass-fiber stage.
Finally, the final stage of creating the spoiler with their hands-ruffift, primer, coating of paint and varnish. After this, the finished spoiler can be put on a car and enjoy the resulting result.
