The automatic parking system is an enhanced version of the parktroick. The function of this system is the name of the system. This device is capable of driving the driver's actions in the parking lot to a minimum. The system is not archaic called intelligent-it will pick up the optimal place for the parking space, determine the availability of the necessary space, if the driver wishes, take over the entire control of the car.

In cars of different brands, an automatic parking lot is called in different brands. So, Volkswagen is Park Assist, Lexus and Toyota-Intelligent Park Assist System, and the BMW-Remote Park Assist System. There are other variations on the subject. However, the substance of such a device is approximately the same for all producers.

Device and operating principle

The automatic parking system consists of ultrasound sensors, an electronic control unit, an optical indication and a switch.

The ultrasound sensors of the intellectual parking meter are much larger than the typical parktronic-four in front and behind and two on the side of the car. More and more range.

Incorporation of the driver shall be carried out by the operator by pressing the button (switch) on the instrument panel.

Since the parking process is carried out electronically, the vehicles with such a system are equipped with a power steering and a system of exchange rate stability.

The control unit receives signals from ultrasound sensors, processes them, and gives the commands to the actuators, the power steering, the exchange stability system, and the box. Thus, the fact that the handlebars are starting to spin and the car drive is the result of "electronic communication" of the control unit with electronic blocks of all other devices.

The system's process of work is divided into two stages: the search for a suitable parking space and the parking itself.

The driver's free space is used to look for ultrasound sensors located on the side of the car. As long as the vehicle is moving along the other parked vehicles (the speed is determined according to the variety of the device. Normally-30-40 km/h, the sensors measure the distance between them. Some automatic parking is able to determine the location of other cars (parallel or perpendicular to them). The signals from the sensors are received on the control unit. In fact, it determines enough space to park and if so, informs the driver-shows all the necessary information on the display screen. The required length of this free space is determined differently by different systems. For example, Park Assist believes that distances of 80 centimetres exceeding the length of the machine itself are sufficient for manoeuvre. For comparison, Advanced Park Assist is looking for more than one centimeter.

The parking of a car can be carried out in two ways-by the driver using the instructions provided by the system or automatically without the involvement of the driver.

In the first case, visual and text tips can be displayed by the driver. They recommend the angle at which to turn the wheel and on which path to move.

Automatic parking is a complex influence of the control unit on such executive mechanisms of the vehicle as:

  • Electric motor of the power steering;
  • Inverse pump flow and valves of brake liners;
  • motor throttle control of the engine management system;
  • Electromagnetic relief valves of automatic gearbox.

At the same time, the system can be switched to manual mode by pressing the button at any time.

In addition to the described, there is a modification of the automatic parking, which works not only without the participation of the driver, but also in the absence of the driver in the passenger car. In this case, the device is launched from the remote control.
