Most of the motorists "heard something" that the towing on a manual gearshift gearbox is different from towing to "machine gun." However, the details of these differences are far from all. Even the owners of ACPR's emergency situations are often lost and do not know whether it is possible to tow a car or take someone on a tug.

So is it possible to tow a car equipped with ACPR or, conversely, use such a vehicle as a tug? If so, are there special requirements for such types of towing?

The difference between towing a car and a "machine gun"

In the case of a towing vehicle equipped with a manual gearbox, only one gears is spinning in the neutral position. At this point, when the vehicle is towed by the ACPR, the whole mechanism will rotate with the neutral position of the box. Since the device is not designed for this type of work, it is rapidly overheated and, as a result, may fail. In addition, the oil pump, which discusses the gearbox, operates only when the engine is running. If you tow a car with a stopped motor, the details of the transmission will be operated without lubrication. It could also lead to the failure of ACPR.

In the case of a vehicle with ACPR as a tug, the transmission shall also be subject to additional pressure. And if a vehicle with a "mechanic" can be towed or towed without any restrictions, the ACPR requires some "bedevs".

How to Tow

As automatic transmissions on different models of cars can have significant differences, it is recommended to clarify the possibility of towing such vehicles in the operating instructions. It is also possible to find information about the maximum distance to tow a car and at what speed. These settings may vary from one vendor to the other. In rare cases, towage may not be permitted at all.

Of course, such advice is suitable only when the need to tow a car is known in advance and there is time and opportunity to check the manslaughter. When this is not possible, specialists and experienced motorists recommend a "golden middle". Thus, according to this data, most ACPR vehicles can be towed or used as a tugboat, not more than 30 kilometres at a speed not exceeding 30 km/h. The car must then be given a "rest" in order to continue the towing.

In addition to the manufacturer's recommendations for each specific car, there are general rules for towing, which apply to all cars equipped with ACPR. In particular, if a car with a "machine gun" is on the tug, the box must be in Regulation N. If the machine at the ACPR itself is a tug, the towing vehicle shall be towed in the second or third gear.

One of the main principles of automatic transmission is forced grease and high heat transfer. Before towing, it is necessary to ensure that the oil level at the PPC is normal.

When the vehicle is towed by an ACPR

In principle, manufacturers advise to avoid such situations where possible. If there are no other options, certain rules must be followed.

It is better to give preference to the rigid coupling when towing. In this case, the towed vehicle, in its mass, shall not exceed the weight of its tug.

As with the tow, the speed shall not exceed 30 to 40 km/h.

The box shall in no case be placed in the position D, only 2 or 3. It is not recommended to switch to reduced gear to avoid creating additional loads.

Special attention should be paid to the towing of automobiles equipped with a full-drive system. Most often, the manufacturer insists that such machines be moved exclusively to the tow truck. In the absence of such an option, the vehicle shall be towed with a raised front or rear axle. The bauxing is highly undesirable.

No less attention was paid to the tow-line. Here it is necessary to turn to the manufacturer's manoual, because for some cars it is recommended to be towed in neutral, the other is to need a working engine, and for third towing is not permitted at all.

Thus, the towing of the car from the ACPR is a troublet and is not always safe for the car. As far as possible, such tows would be better avoided by taking advantage of the tow truck. However, if the situation is no day off, the process of towing a vehicle with ACPR should be approached with seriousness and responsibility.
