Types of automotive compressors
All compressor units are approximately the same, all consisting of a working cylinder, an electric motor and a pressure gauge that controls the pressure in the tyre. The membrane compressors are now almost non-marketed: they are not highly reliable, and the wheel inflates very slowly. Most often, it is possible to meet reciprocating vehicle compressors.
Compressor parameters
Before you buy a car compressor, you should carefully consider its characteristics. What should I pay attention to when choosing the compressor?
Maximum pressure. It all depends on the car you have and the pressure you're going to put on tyres. The passenger car is usually 2-3 years old and this is almost all modern compressors. If you are going to pump the wheel of a SUV or a truck, the maximum pressure must be greater.
Performance. This parameter is measured in litres and per minute. Accordingly, the faster the performance, the faster the wheel will be. With performance, usually the device's price increases, so choose what is more important for you: fast-load or savings.
In addition, the electric car compressor has a number of parameters that should also be noticed before purchasing:
- length of the cable (ensure that the compressor is free to reach all the wheels),
- The manometer scale (the cap is no more applicable, it is more convenient to select a gauge with a division price of 0.1 atm),
- Additional features (many compressors have a whole set of interchangers that can be used to inflate the ball or inflatable mattress, and some models are equipped with a flashlight, etc.).
Connecting a car compressor
By connection method, all car compressors are divided into two types:
- Connecting through the cigarette lighter,
- connect directly to the battery.
As practice shows, it is more convenient to connect the lighter and directly to the battery. In addition, if you have a powerful car compressor, it should be connected in any case to the CCM so that the cigarette lighter does not burn.
