A small oily leak in the steering column, just below the ignition switch, appears as a result of the glazing of the surplus oil on the SRS contact ring (the airbag). This lubricant improves the quality of the contact, but sometimes it causes too much, and over the course of several months its excess can trickle down the steering column.
