The rear view mirrors are the invention of the woman. They were not immediately available on civilian vehicles, but they could not imagine a single vehicle without them. However, the rear-view mirrors are not easy enough to have, they must be set up correctly and competently. For this, there is a special mechanism and separate rules. Look for a Woman
Look for a Woman
And the beginning of everything, of course, with the woman. Well, who else would suggest using a mirror in a car? In 1906, Dorothy Levitt published a book called "A Woman and a Car", which contained many useful tips for the ladies who used this new dikovic vehicle. Among them was the council to keep the mirror with the handle for the back review under the hand of the mirror. The idea did not come at once: in those far-off times, traffic was not too intense, so special need for ordinary drivers to look back and not on the sides yet. The other thing of the race is Mrs. Levitt's advice here, by the way. In 1911, Ray Haerron driver, not the master of finding the right mechanic (whose duty at the time was to escort the driver on the road and the assault of the race at the time of the competition), adapted the mirror to his Marmon car, which enabled him to win the main prize of the Indianapolis 500.
After that, the engineers of the automobile industry-already a year after Herrone Elmer Berger-patented the design of the first rear-view mirror, which began to be used on serial cars. Since then, mirrors have become a constant attribute of not only cars, but also motorcycles, mopeds and even bicycles.
Such different mirrors
In our time cars have three mirrors-two lateral and one salon. However, this was not always the same. Previously, drivers contented themselves with a salon mirror. In the 1950s, the machines were equipped with lateral left and slightly lateral right mirror.
The side mirror is sometimes slightly convex to the driver's side mirror, which allows to increase the angle of the survey. For this, the truth is that we have to pay the price distortion to the objects that are reflected in the mirror. In addition, a side mirror may additionally have a round convex pasting, even more visibility. The salon also sometimes sets a convex, so-called panoramic mirror, which gives a wide-angle back "picture", also, however, distorted, which can have a negative impact on the safety of the movement.

In addition to the three main mirrors, the vehicles may be equipped with auxiliary mirrors, the exterior rear, side to monitor the right dimension. The most common thing is for trucks, vans and minivans. Such mirrors are designed to assist in manoeuvring, reversing and parking.
In the 1950s, America found a new place for rear-view mirrors-front wings of the car. It is true that this construction in the world car has not come to life.
Side mirrors are overwhelmingly installed on the front door of the car, but many motorists remember the other fitting of mirrors on the front wings. The scheme was born in the US in the 1950s, but it lasted relatively short-it was very inconvenient to adjust the mirrors, and in the aesthetics the car did not add up. There were also advantages-the absence of so-called "dead zones" and the presence of a mirror in one field of vision with the road.
Longer than all this scheme has remained true in Japan-on our roads, the models of the 80-90s are still driving with mirrors located on the wings.
Modern exterior mirrors are high-tech products equipped with different electronic systems. There's not much to be surprised by the heating and electric control of the mirrors. Now the mirrors can be independently regulated under a specific driver (memory function) and automatically darken to prevent dazzle of the driver, and warn about the presence of another car in the "dead zone" in the restructure.

Despite the use of video cameras in modern models to obtain information about what is happening behind the car, the traditional mirror will be the most reliable and reliable tool of the back end for a long time. Still, human eyes still trust more than the most perfect electronics. How do they regulate the mirrors in the car?
How do they regulate the mirrors in the car?
The main task of setting the rear-view mirrors is to obtain the most complete image and to minimize the "dead zones". "Dead", or "blind", is a section of the road near a car that is not viewed with mirrors. The adjustment of the side mirrors has previously been made either by hand outside the car (now such an anachronism as a shuffling adjustment mechanism is probably only at the utilitarian Land Rover Defender) or by means of the chiffon from inside the passenger compartment.
In modern cars, a joystick is usually used to allow for the control of mirrors by means of an electric power train. The most perfect adjustment system adjusts the position of the mirror depending on the driving mode (for example, reversing).
