According to official technology, in order to replace the candles, the intake manifold must be removed. The first thing to do is disconnect the battery. It will then be necessary to remove several components: catalyst, catalyst, pipe, rear latch bracket, and several sensors. The most difficult is to dismantle the collector without spoiling the gaskets.

However, the experienced owners of the Golf and the mechanics were forcing them to change the candles in a simpler way. So candles of the first and second cylinders are tilted towards the pulley side, and the candles of the third and fourth cylinders are tilted towards the flywheel-in a certain way, they can still be reached without dismantling many parts.

First it is necessary to remove the candle-tips from under the collector-screwdriver or other suitable instrument, for example, mites for oilremovable caps. The arrowheads need to be taken away.

For the first and fourth cylinders, it is convenient to use a straight key, and for the candlelight from the cylinder, the number "two" and "three", which are right below the collector, will need a key with an extension cord with a cardan. Then, with the utmost caution, put the extension cord in the narrow passage, trying not to touch the adjacent parts, and put on the candle by correcting the position from under the manifold. With the candlelight, you need a piece of jewelry that does not rely on the nozzle and its connectors or to the collector. Otherwise, the nozzle can pull out and start running again later. A collector with a relatively thin wall can crack.
