Braking system is one of the most important vehicle systems. The braking system must be monitored and cared for. In the event of the slightest indication of a malfunction, diagnostics must be carried out. The failed brake pedal is a worrying symptom that clearly reports a failure in the vehicle's brake system.

The reasons for the failed brake pedal may be:

1. Deterioration of the quality of brake fluid (the hygroscopic braking fluid, that is, soaks the water over time, so it needs to be changed regularly).

2. The main brake cylinder is defective.

3. A vacuum amplifier of the brakes is not working.

4. The brake line and the brake fluid are damaged.

5. The pedal has failed after the brake pads or discs have been replaced (the pedal must be pressed several times and it will become solid).

6. Rust the brake pedal draught.

However, there is a situation where the brake pedal should fail. When starting an engine equipped with automatic gearbox, the brake pedal must be held down. After the launch, the pedal fails a little bit. This means that the vacuum amplifier is in use. After a couple of three times, the pedal will be a little more solid.
