The BAS PLUS system is installed on the Mercedes S-class (W221) with Destrick Plus. Its main objective is to support braking in dangerous situations. The radar sensor system recognizes the obstacles that are long before the car-for example, moving ahead of the car. As we approach these obstacles, BAS PLUS recognizes the danger and calculates the brake force to prevent the collision. System action considerations: At speeds above 7 km/h and below 30 km/h and brake pedal, the system is activated. The brake shall be applied at the most recent moment. At speeds above 30 km/h and severe brake application, the system automatically increases the braking force to the design value. At speeds up to 70 km/h, the system can respond to static obstacles such as parked cars.
