Disputes about how to keep the battery are long overdue among motorists. Some say that it is not necessary to remove it, "simply to light up". Others say that they should be removed, and before they are stored, they must be charged. The third will support the idea of removing the battery, but, on the contrary, advise it to be discharged.

How do you choose the only right one? How do I ensure that the battery that is left for the time being used is not "dead", but continues to serve? Could it not be disconnected? Under what conditions do you want to keep it? Need a non-exploable battery to be charged?

In principle, if the garage is a good microclimate (air dry, well ventilated, 50-70% humidity and temperature below 5 degrees), the battery can be kept. If the conditions are far from recommended, the battery should be removed for the time it is idle.

If it is not possible to keep the battery at home or in the garage, it is necessary to disable the mass in a long time parking lot. At the same time, it is worth drawing attention that the alarm will not work without the Alarm.

However, most people think that it is necessary to remove the battery.

Preparation of the CCM for long-term storage

First of all, it is necessary to carefully wash the surface of the AKB from the traces of electrolyte.  Then, to protect it from oxidation, it is necessary to lubricate the battery output and its terminals with a technical vaseline. The body of the KB shall be dry and completely leakproof.

The density of the electrolyte should be checked in the serviced PCCA (which allows the replacement of the electrolyte). It shall not be less than 1.28 g/cm. Also in these batteries, it is necessary to twist the jams and check that there is no mechanical damage. The battery data is 12 to 14 months at low temperature and 7 to 9 months.

In the unserved, it is desirable to check the voltage on the polar output (not less than 12.6V).

Before long storage, the battery must be fully charged. Experienced drivers are advised to check the charge level approximately every three weeks, because the JSCB is unintentionally discharged and may subsequently become inoperable.

How to charge the JSCB

In the process of charging the banks, hydrogen and oxygen are released, the mixture of which is very flammable, so it is not possible to smoke or discharge light. For the same reason, the room must be well ventilated.

Before starting the charge, the engine must be powered off and all power consumers switched off. Then disconnect the battery (detach the battery from the battery, remove the mounting bracket) and remove it. You must move the ACB carefully, not tilt, and not turn over to prevent electrolyte leakage (the tendon rechargeable battery cannot be flixed so that the plate is not damaged).

The charger or battery shall be positioned on a level hard surface. It is also recommended to examine lead acid for oxidation before charging. If so, it is desirable to clean the electrodes carefully with wet paper or a file for better conductivity. If the car was standing in the cold, you'd have to wait a few hours for the battery to warm up.

The specialists recommend, first of all, to pay attention to the instruction to the charger (if any) and to follow it.

The cells of the charger shall be connected to the conclusions. The polarity must be clearly observed (the positive wire is positive, negative). The type of charger depends on the possible need to adjust the voltage of 12V or 24V (according to the AC voltage).

If there is a current for the measurement of the current, it shall be determined that the ampermeter will show the current force of one tenth of the battery capacity (for the battery capacity of 55A/chi capacity of 5.5A, etc.) In the process of charging the battery the current shall be weakened. It is necessary to monitor the current intensity of the current every two hours and, if necessary, to raise them by means of the ostrata.

If the charger is fitted with an automatic switch, when the voltage is reached, the charge stops.

The state of charge of the battery can be measured by a voltmeter (tester). If the voltage is 12V-16V, no further charge is necessary.

After the charge is over, disconnect the charger power supply, remove the terminals from the battery electrode, collect the batteries, and install the battery pack if necessary.

How long it can be stored without charge

Malicoiny PACs are stored for 3 to 5 months, hybrid between 5 and 8 months, and calcium from 8 to 12 months.

Battery storage conditions

There are many conflicting views in which premises are better stored by the CCM. Some experts recommend keeping the battery in a dry warm place because moisture and lower temperatures reduce the length of the device service. They believe that the optimal storage temperature is 5 to 20 degrees. The room must be well ventilated.

Other specialists, on the other hand, recommend that a cool room be chosen because the battery is low. They call an acceptable temperature from minus to plus 10 degrees.

But both agree that direct sunlight cannot be allowed to enter the room, respectively, it must be dark (or at least darkened). The bright light accelerates the ageing of polypropylene, which is usually the body of the JSCB. Under the influence of light the polymer materials are dimmer and lose their original properties.

If the room is heated, the distance from the battery to any heating appliance shall be no less than metre.

The CRA shall be upright, without inclination.

It is not necessary to slacket the battery, just keep the temperature in the room and prevent any abrupt swings.

There are also disputes about whether to keep the ACM fully charged. It is possible to meet the opinion that it is not until the end, or that it is completely discharged. Still, experienced motorists believe that it is necessary to keep the battery in charge.

The quality of its work depends on the proper storage and operation of the ALB. Before long parking, the battery should be removed and stored in a dry space. Periodically check the charge level and charge the battery. It is necessary to comply with certain rules (including safety equipment).
