Why is the VW Tiguan with a turbodian and ACPR starter from second gear?

This is the normal operation of a gearbox in a diesel vehicle. The high torque can be easily touched from the second gear. The car starts to disperse from the first gear in several cases: when the accelerator pedal is pressed, sport or manual mode is turned on.
