The NECK-PRO system was developed by Mercedes-Benz to protect the driver and the front passenger from various neck and head injuries. NECK-PRO is integrated into the front-head restraints of the Mercedes E-Class (W211). In the case of a collision, the sensors shall be activated and the spring placed in the head restraint that moves it forward or backward, thus allowing the head of the front passenger and the driver to be supported. The head restraints can then be manually returned to their original position. This system significantly improves head restraint protection.
In case the car is fitted with covers, the NECK-PRO system will not be able to operate correctly and provide the protection declared by the manufacturer. Therefore, the manufacturer strongly recommends that no cover be used for head restraints.
