The 3rd generation gas distribution mechanism of the 3rd generation vehicle requires periodic adjustments of the valves. On the recommendation of the manufacturer, the setting of the Honda CR-V III valves shall be adjusted every 40,000 kilometres.
The valves of the HON-CDB 3 are as follows (minimum-maximum):
- Engine K24: 0.21-0.25 (in some cases heat clearance may be 0.28-0.32).
- Engine R20: 0.18-0.22 (in some cases may be 0.23-0.27).
It is preferable to display the average of the gaps between the minimum and the maximum.
After adjusting the valves on the Honda R.E. 3, it is desirable to replace the valve cover and the ring of candle wells.
