Any motorist collide with tyre damage sooner or later. When a lateral lid is raised, the question always arises: do I change or repair?

For the beginning, it should be clear: the appropriateness and safety of the repair of lateral rezas are determined by the size of these cut-by-cut.

  • The longitudinal cut along the cords shall be repaired if its size does not exceed 35 mm.
  • The cut shall be repaired at a maximum size of 25 mm.
  • If the cutout ends closer than 40 mm from the edge of the cover, it is no longer possible to repair it.

At the same time, the repair of any side tyre cut is only a temporary measure, and in the future it needs to be replaced. In extreme conditions, a repaired tyre can behave unpredictably!

Renovation of side tyres

So, if you decided not to change a tyre with a cut side, and repair it, treat it very carefully, because the safety of the tires depends on the integrity of the tires. Repairs to lateral cuts are as follows:

  • to groan the edges of the tyres in the cut, so that the shape of the bowl is shaped,
  • the resulting "bowl" is filled with raw rubber,
  • The casing is cured with the help of a special chamber or a hairdryer,
  • After the installation of the patch, the place of repair is thoroughly cleaned up,
  • Balancing the wheel.

Note that if the repair technology is violated, the patch can simply fly away from the tires at high speed. Experienced motorists advise you to use the repaired tyre as a spare tire, and use the car to install the correct tyre without damage.

Do not forget that external tyre damage (including cuts) refers to the list of faults and conditions under which the operation of vehicles is prohibited. In accordance with Article 12.5 of the Russian Administrative Code, a fine of 500 rubles ($1,500,000) is envisaged for this.
